Cancely — subscription tracker & reminders

In short: Cancely is designed to collect as little as possible. It works without an account, and we never sell your data. This policy explains what we process and why.

1. Data We Process

Depending on how you use the App, we process:

  • Subscriptions you add — names, prices, billing dates, and similar details you enter yourself
  • Statements you import — if you choose to import a bank or card statement (PDF), the file is uploaded to our servers and analysed by a third-party AI provider to detect recurring charges. It is used only for that purpose and kept only as long as needed to complete the scan
  • Voice input — if you add a subscription by voice, your speech is converted to text (on-device or via Apple’s speech recognition) to create the entry
  • A device identifier — used to save and sync your data without requiring an account
  • Usage and diagnostics — analytics and crash reports that help us understand and improve the App
  • Install attribution — limited data about how you found the App, for marketing measurement
  • Subscription status — whether you have an active Premium subscription (via Apple and RevenueCat)

Cancely does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email, or login, and we do not connect to your bank.

2. Why We Process It

We use this data to:

  • Provide and operate the App’s features (tracking, reminders, cancellation guides, statement import)
  • Send the renewal reminders you’ve enabled
  • Process and manage your Premium subscription
  • Measure marketing and understand how the App is used, so we can improve it
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse

3. Service Providers

We share limited data with trusted providers only to deliver these features:

  • Apple — App Store payments and subscriptions
  • RevenueCat — subscription management
  • AppsFlyer — install attribution
  • Amplitude and AppMetrica — product analytics
  • Bugsnag — crash reporting
  • A third-party AI provider (Google, via OpenRouter) — parsing imported statements
  • Supabase — secure cloud hosting of your app data

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data Retention

We keep the data tied to your device while you use the App. You can delete it at any time from within the App (Settings → Reset), which removes your subscriptions and associated data. Imported statements are processed transiently and are not used for any purpose other than detecting your recurring charges.

5. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (including under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to:

  • Access the data associated with your device
  • Delete your data — use Settings → Reset in the App
  • Opt out of the “sale” of personal information — note that we do not sell your data
  • Ask us about our practices by contacting us

7. Children

Cancely is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date below.
