Privacy Policy

Please note: This document, "Privacy Policy," sets out the rules for using data of users by Daniil Gerasimenko (hereinafter referred to as "we" and/or "Administration") collected through the "Lineage" application (hereinafter referred to as the "Application").

1. Data We Process

1.1. To provide the core functionality of the Application — generating an ancestor portrait, origins map, and chat — we process the following data that you provide to us:

• A photo (selfie) that you choose to upload from your device, used solely to generate your personalized interpretation;
• Quiz answers you provide about yourself (age range, gender, region context, etc.);
• Your email address, used to identify your account and restore access to your purchases;
• Messages you send to your AI ancestor character within the in-app chat.

1.2. In addition, the Application automatically collects anonymized technical data:

1.3. The composition and conditions of automatic data collection by third-party software are determined by their respective providers and may include:

• device data and approximate location;
• operating system data (type, version, screen resolution);
• request data (time, IP address, referral source);
• in-app event data (screens viewed, features used, purchase events).

1.4. Photo and face data. The photo you provide is a selfie or an image you choose; it may show your face, and providing it is optional. It is used for one purpose only — to generate your entertainment “imagined ancestry” interpretation (a fictional origins map, a fictional ancestor portrait, and related text). We do not use facial-recognition technology, and we do not create or store a faceprint, facial-geometry template, or any biometric identifier. Your photo is transmitted securely over HTTPS to our servers and forwarded to our AI provider, Google (Gemini API), to generate your result; under Google’s Gemini API terms it is processed transiently and is not used to train AI models. We do not store your original photo: it is held only in memory for the moment needed to generate your result and is then discarded — never written to our database or file storage, and excluded from our logs. Only the AI-generated fictional portrait (which is not your photo) is stored so you can revisit your result, and you can delete it at any time in the app.

2. Purposes of Data Processing

2.1. The Administration uses data for the following purposes:

• Generating your ancestor portrait, origins map, and in-character chat responses;
• Maintaining your account and restoring access to purchased content;
• Processing subscription payments and managing renewals;
• Conducting analytics, performance monitoring, and bug tracking;
• Improving the functionality and user experience of the Application.

3. Data Protection

3.1. The Administration stores data using secure infrastructure (encrypted storage, access controls) and ensures protection against unauthorized access and distribution in accordance with internal rules and applicable regulations.

3.2. Confidentiality of received data is maintained, except where such data is shared with the third-party services described in this Policy strictly to deliver the Application’s functionality.

4. Data Transfer

4.1. The Administration may transfer data to third parties in the following cases:

• You have given consent to such actions;
• Transfer is necessary for the Application to function (e.g. AI providers, payment processors, analytics);
• Transfer is required under applicable law in accordance with the procedure established by law;
• Transfer is necessary to protect the rights and legitimate interests of the Administration or third parties where the User violates the User Agreement.

5. Your Rights

5.1. You have the right to:

• Request access to the personal data we hold about you;
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time;
• Withdraw consent for processing where consent is the legal basis;
• Object to specific processing activities or restrict processing.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

6.1. The Administration has the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy. The date of the last update is indicated below. The new version comes into force from the moment it is published.
